Awarding of a title bearing the names of our president and his wife

In recognition of their significant contributions to anti-aging research at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, including their donation to anti-aging research, Professor Shinichiro Imai, who has made significant contributions as Professor in the Department of Developmental Biology and Medicine at the university’s School of Medicine, has been awarded the The title of “M and T Tanaka Family Distinguished Professor in Aging Research” was conferred upon Professor Imai in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of aging research, including his donation of funds. Distinguished Professor” is the highest title at an American university. This is the first time in the University of Washington’s more than 150-year history that the title has been bestowed in the name of a Japanese family member.
